Now there is a threat to this species at the monastery, they are battling. We started the journey at 5:00 AM from Bumthang and reached around 6:24 AM at the very spot, where we date, this time they were not on expected time also hard to spot them around. We heard calls all far from every corners, cant sight a single move.

But than, I had the conversation with the Principal of the monastery about their change in behaviour. He mentions, “just recently a red dog had arrived from nowhere and is actually chasing away or even must be on hunt.”

From this, I suspect that the dog must be from Dhur area (northern side of Bumthang). Where he must have followed the trekkers. The trek route from Dhur (menchuna) to Tharpaling monastery. Commonly known as ‘OWL TREK’. Or could be from the village down, without the human companion, that would never be possible for the red dog to be at the sight. The question lies all round?

We nearly missed the chance, if one bold male Monal didnt show up. We nearly missed, if i was not late catching up the team. We nearly missed, if we were not vigilant. We nearly missed, if my friend Samgyal Wa didnt sight at far, whiles’t he was driving. We stopped immediately to guide him. We lost again, but we heard the dogs barking, thats the critical time, we had to run to protect. The first move i made was to chase the dogs away. I didnt realise that the bold was just by my side, feeling secured. That was at 8:24 AM.

I present you the beauty below and please share your ideas to protect this bird from falling victim to dogs. And also smart innovations that the dog is also saved.
