DAY 1: ARRIVE PARO

Taking a flight to Bhutan is astonishing, offering views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest. Upon landing in Paro, you're greeted by fresh air, lush forests, and a silvery river. A Trogon Travels representative warmly welcomes you, leading you to lunch in town. Afterward, visit the National Museum of Bhutan and Paro Rinpung Dzong, rich in history and culture. Conclude with a drive to Thimphu for an overnight stay.

DAY 2: THIMPHU

It will be another beautiful day to explore the city. After breakfast, we will drive to Thimphu and visit the National Memorial Chorten, built in 1974 to honor King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, the ‘father of modern Bhutan’. Next, we’ll visit Buddha Point, the Zorig Chusum art school, and the Folk Heritage Museum. After lunch, we’ll proceed to Zilukha nunnery, the Motithang Takin Reserve, Changangkha Lhakhang temple, and finally the Traditional Handmade Paper Factory.

DAY 3: PUNAKHA

You will drive to Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan. The journey includes a climb to Dochula Pass at 3100 meters, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas and 108 chortens. Explore the area, then descend through pine and rhododendron forests. After lunch in the valley, visit Chimi Lhakhang, a 15th-century fertility temple. Check into your hotel, then visit Punakha Dzong, built in 1637, to admire its architecture and paintings.

DAY 4: PARO

After breakfast, you will drive north of Punakha Valley to hike the Khamsum Yuelay Namgyal Chorten. The hike will take you through the rice fields and the view of Punakha valley from the Chorten is stunning. After lunch, we will drive back to Paro. On arrival in Thimphu, we will visit Simtokha Dzong, the first and the oldest fort built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1629. We will continue our journey to Paro.

DAY 5: PARO

You will start early at Taktsang (Tiger's Lair) Monastery. Legend says Guru Rinpoche meditated here in the 8th century to subdue a local deity. The first temple was built by Sonam Gyeltshen in the 16th century. In 1645, the site was offered to Zhabdrung, who instructed Gyalsey Tenzin Rabgay to build a temple.
